Windows Networking no longer works

I just made my computers more secure: installed ZoneAlarm, SnoopFree, & AVG anti-virus; assigned static IP addresses, and setup port forwarding thru my router. However, now Windows networking does not work (the computers cannot access each other). I am running Window XP - Media Center Edition. I have made all the relevant IP addresses "trusted" in the ZoneAlarm settings and log into both computers with the same username and password. Do I need to assign a specific port for Windows networking, or is there some other problem?

looks like you are one of many with this networking problem. I don't have the answer (I do have the same problem) but you could check some things, to find the problem. have a look at http://www.forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=114166

Also, try to ping the other computers in your network, the problem might be that you can't connect to the other computers at all. (which is my problem)

You probably need to configure the Firewall Trusted Zone so that it would not block local traffic, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted

In general, successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings, http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is allowed to be shared.
