All of our client computers logged into the Windows 2003 domain cannot print from IE. You go to File->Print, and the page doesn't even come up.

I've checked all the group settings and security settings, but I can't seem to find anything that is relevant. Any ideas?

Can they print from anything else?

Make sure the printers are connected to the network and that the drivers are properly installed.

Check to make sure print sharing is enabled for all users.

Yes, they can print with word and excel and almost everything else with the network printers. The only other thing that some of them can't print from is Outlook.

Your initial post stated that they couldn't print from IE, now it is Outlook?
What programs exactly does the user have this problem with?

No one can print from IE at all. None of them that are logged into the domain. Some of them cannot print from Outlook.

Everyone can print from everything other than IE and Outlook.

So you are in a domain configuration, at my work certain web based applications such as Outlook and or any databases clients running off of a browser are in a Virtual Network environment where if setting for users/groups were not set up correctly then they couldnt print from those applications even though they were able to print from applications installed on their local disk. So in a domain enviroment using IP based printing that is a valid scenario but I am not sure if that is applicable to your network. The only other thing I could think of is the settings (policies) in gpedit (group policy editor: Start > Run > gpedit, msc). You could also try checking the HKLM\...\Policies sections for both Windows and Software> related apps on the effected workstations to see if there are any related entries but the fact that you have multipled machines effected randomly makes me think there must be something else.

Other than that....can't think of anything else.

Yeah, we have about 10 computers on the domain. None of them can print from IE in the domain accounts, but can print from IE when logged on locally. We are already using IP printing.

I've checked the group settings, but I can't find anything that would effect printing.

Sorry for late reply, I actually am not sure what the cause is other than what I have mentioned or others have suggested.
But one thing caught my attention from your initial post:

Now that is not normal by any means, I mean forget about network settings being incorrect, wires being bad or not wired properly all that aside the fact that an option that is visible, accessible and functional in Outlook and IE being missing is straight up odd!
This would have to do with a Global Policy where the forementioned menu option to be omitted from user's profiles. Of course this could have been done in the registry within the HKLM hive but for multiple users? Doesn't make sense to me since you are the guy doing all the work
...nothing else comes to my mind.

Thanks for everyone's replies. However, I've finally fixed it, and thought I would share the info.

The problem was that when we attached the client computers to the server initially, the server did not load IE correctly to them. I ran a batch file provided by Microsoft that re-registered all dll's dealing with IE, and it fixed the problem.

Nice job! I had a feeling that it had to the with the installation of the software/OS even but didn't know you did a server-based installation... I can't believe I didn't ask anything on that....

Glad you researched it and fixed it on your own though and thanks for the feedback! ;)
