The rise of Chrome and Safari appear to be impinging market share for Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, which both lost points in July, according to Net Applications.

Sunnyvale, California — August 3, 2011 — Results of a recent national survey* commissioned by TeleNav, Inc. indicate that Americans are willing to give up some of life's greatest pleasures in order to hang on to their mobile phones. Not surprisingly, smartphone users were more attached to their devices than were feature phone users, with iPhone users leading the pack. In fact, iPhone users were more likely than their Android or BlackBerry counterparts to spend a week without their significant other, exercise or shoes—rather than go a week without their phone.
Even among feature phone users, however, TeleNav's survey showed respondents' strong attachment to their mobile phones. Nearly half of all respondents said they sleep with their phone next to them, including 38 percent of feature phone users and 66 percent of smartphone users.

PinToStartMenu lets you pin Control Panel items and folders to Windows Start Menu, via your right-click context menu.

There are three different ways using which we can add folders to the start menu and/or even add ‘Pin to start menu item’ to the right-click context menu of folders in Windows. To add Control Panel items to the start menu, you have to create its shortcut on your desktop and then drag and drop it into the start button (orb).

PinToStartMenu makes things easier. It adds the ‘Pin to start menu’ item to the context menu of folders and the Control Panel applets.

Once you have downloaded this freeware portable app, run the app ‘as admin’ and click Install to install the items in the context menu.

That's not what it's for. It's for pinning items (folders, control panel items, etc.) to the start menu, not running them at start up.

Some additional info. Enable "Pin to Start Menu" Option for Folders in Windows XP, Vista and 7.

That's just a small registry tweak. I've done it on my XP quite some time ago and it works flawlessly without any download. The site also shows on how to remove the registry tweak.

Balabolka is a Text-To-Speech software application. All computer voices installed on your system are available to Balabolka. The on-screen text can be saved as a WAV or MP3 file.

The program can read the clipboard content, view the text from DOC, RTF and HTML files, customize font and background colour, control reading from the system tray or by the global hotkeys.

Balabolka uses various versions of Microsoft Speech API (SAPI); it allows to alter a voice's parameters, including rate, pitch, and volume.

The user can apply a special substitution list to improve the quality of the voice's articulation. This feature is useful when you want to change the spelling of words. The rules for the pronunciation correction use the syntax of VBScript.

LAS VEGAS--A 10-year-old hacker who goes by the pseudonym CyFi revealed today at DefCon 19 a zero-day exploit in games on iOS and Android devices that independent researchers have confirmed as a new class of vulnerability. The girl from California first discovered the flaw around January 2011 because she "started to get bored" with the pace of farm-style games.

Speaking to CNET about an hour before her presentation, CyFi said, "It was hard to make progress in the game, because it took so long for things to grow. So I thought, 'Why don't I just change the time?'" Most of the games she discovered the exploit in have time-dependent factors. For example, planting corn might take 10 real-time hours to mature in the game. Manually advancing the phone or tablet's clock forced the game further ahead than it really was, opening up the exploit.

World's largest James Bond car collection coming together next year at British museum

Next year, the Bond franchise is turning 50, and to celebrate, a number of parties are teaming up to put together the largest display of Bond cars ever. The exhibition will take place at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, England, and is being orchestrated with help from Empire (the world's foremost movie magazine) and EON Productions (which puts together every Bond movie ever filmed).

The display will be part of the Big Screen exhibition there, which already includes the Aston Martin DBS from Quantum of Solace, the DB5 from Goldeneye, the Jaguar XKR from Die Another Day, and the 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom lll from Goldfinger. All told, some 50 cars from various Bond movies will be on display from January through December 2012. Rumors out today suggest Amazon's still-unconfirmed tablets could begin to arrive this year, with a 7-inch device due in October, and a 10-inch version set for a 2012 release.

Expected to have the best chance at beating back the domination of Apple’s iPad line, the rumored Amazon tablets will reportedly begin to arrive in October of this year, with another, larger tablet due early 2012.

According to Taiwan-based DigiTimes, Amazon plans to release a 7-inch tablet sometime in October. Mass production of a 10.1-inch Amazon tablet will begin in the first quarter of next year.

Market estimates suggest Amazon could sell between 3 million and 5 million tablets during the fourth quarter of 2011, if the device carries a competitive price, and the timing of the release is right.
