Uninstalling/installing programs in safe mode?

    Is there anyway to uninstall/install programs in safe mode using win xp home?
    I'm trying to fix my friends pc and when I boot in normal mode the pc locks up do to malware etc.

    Yes
    Boot into safe mode and log in with the Administrator's Account or an Account with administrative privileges

    You can only uninstall from Safe Mode if said application(s) do not use the Windows Installer.
