It's been about two weeks now that my laptop has been infected with the hijack virus (the computer is also really slow now). I went through all the steps in the Malware removal guide, but it was to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Your logs show no signs of a hijacker. Did yo run some other fixes before coming here that removed something? Are you still really being hijacked? If so answer the below
    1. where are you hijacked to?
    2. what browsers are being hijacked? Try more than one.
    3. does it happen all the time or infrequently?
    4. does it happen in safe boot mode?
Your slow PC may be due to what you are running.... like AVG11
Was your PC slow before installing and running: AVG PC Tuneup 2011 Or did it get slow afterwards?

You need to uninstall your outdated Sun Java and update as requested in the READ & RUN ME.

Did you purchase ParetoLogic FileCure? I would uninstall this.

I'm being hijacked to pages like the ad magnet and info.com. It's firefox that's most often hijacked, though it isn't being hijacked as often since running programs like SAS and MbAM. It happens infrequently, even in safe boot mode. It was just as slow before running the tune up.
What should I be running in lieu of of AVG11?

I uninstalled ParetoLogic FileCure. I'm terribly sorry about Sun Java--I seemed to have skipped that one step from the READ and RUN ME.

I ran an MbAM check once before I came across this forum. I'm attaching the log below.

Thanks for your help so far. I appreciate it.

There are many DNS hijackers around that will also get into router hardware. If you have a router hooked up then you need to follow the instructions for your hardware and reset it to factory default settings. Normally there is a recessed push button type switch that needs to be held down for some number of seconds to do this. After resetting to factory defaults on your router, you will need to reconfigure the router for your network if you have made any changes to the default network setup.

    See if this helps.

Try Avira or Avast as in here:

How to Protect yourself from malware!

You will notice AVG in there but even long ago since version 8 we moved it to the bottom of the list and pointed out issues.
