nv4_disp

Hi! My desktop is always on. When I came home tonight, there was a blue error screen that said the problem was nv4_disp (with a whole lot of other stuff to do to correct the problem if it was present again after reboot). I've rebooted many times, but the monitor keeps saying there's no signal & it goes to sleep. Using my laptop, I've done an internet search & found several solutions, but all involve going into safe mode & downloads, etc. I can't even get to a screen on my desktop. I need help. BTW, I don't do any gaming on my desktop, just email & check a few internet sites, nothing much at all. I'm using Windows XP Pro. Thanks! Gini

They don't really help because I can't even get a screen up. The monitor says "no signal" & goes to sleep. Any other ideas?

Open up the computer and remove the graphics card. It may have bad capacitors or just died.

I've been thinking about this problem all day while I was at work. I had the video card replaced in Aug. '07 because of a sound problem. Do you think if I relaced it, that would solve this problem? If so, where would be the best place to purchase one & what kind? I'd sure rather invest under $100 than junk it, but would opt toward purchasing another laptop before spending much on it.
