Why do all computer problems happen at once? My OE 6.0 (Windows XP) is unbearably slow or freezes when downloading messages. My desktop works fine, but my laptop (which is also Windows XP) is Networked via wireless modem. My internet connection is fine and fast. But when receiving messages - it gets stuck on emails with attachments or advertisements, so then I have to go to www.mail2web.com, delete emails that may have these things, and then restart OE - only after that do I receive the other emails. HOwever, I've been losing my emails with big attachments that I need and I get stuck everytime I open OE because I'm sure to receive an email that isn't plain text. What could be wrong?? This happened 6 months ago, but it cleared itself up in 2 days. This is not clearing up. Would love your advice. Thank you, STephanie

I have no idea but as a temporary fix (maybe) which would narrow down whether it's IE or XP causing the problem download Mozilla and see if that works. Alot of work I know but I just had to do my part to prevent a suicide :)

Thanks for doing your part Mgrist. I don't have to download Mozilla to tell you that my other email program is acting the same exact way. So I guess it would be XPs problem? I've recently cleaned the crap out of my registry to get rid of Incredimail (yet I think the bugger is still lurking), so could that have done something?

Both computers are having e-mail problems or two e-mail accounts on the same computer?
Getting rid of incredimail could very well have messed something up. A Outlook express shared file may have been deleted if there is such a thing. Did you manually delete the files or have a program that did it.

It's the same computer (my laptop) and it freezes when receiving email on 2 different email programs. I also checked my husband's email account and it also freezes. However, on our Desktop - everything is working fine.

Yes, I manually deleted Incredimail because the Uninstall function didn't work properly. I guess i could restore the registries that I cleaned, but I'll wait to see if I have to. Any more suggestions ??

Major discovery. My Internet connection is NOT working properly. I have noticed that sites are taking a long time to upload, but I thought it was just a sluggish phase. I have tried to download Mozilla's THunderbird 4 different times now and it's estimated time was 1 hour, 40 min. I was in disbelief. I then went to my desktop and est. download time was 1min. and some seconds. So it IS my internet connection. I may have to start a new thread for this. My Linksys signal says excellent, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I have had a few friends who have had problems with Linksys products... Especially with the router...

So does this have nothing to do with your Outlook now?

Does your Outlook check your email once you get into the program?
