    Hello All Forum Support Members,

For more then 3 months now, my computer has been having problems loading webpages, webpages/websites not responding, webpages/websites freezing, etc.. My internet works fine but Internet Explorer doesn't load and/or doesn't respond or freezes up. I've attached report logs as you've requested. Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Sincerely,
    Chris

Did you set this restriction on purpose?

    • O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present

Re run Hitman and have it remove all that it finds.

    [IMG] Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

    • [PUP] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\70e6ca8c ("C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe" "c:\progra~2\optimi~1\OptProCrashSvc.dll",ServiceMain) -> Found
    • [PUP] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Services\70e6ca8c ("C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe" "c:\progra~2\optimi~1\OptProCrashSvc.dll",ServiceMain) -> Found
    • [PUP] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet002\Services\70e6ca8c ("C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe" "c:\progra~2\optimi~1\OptProCrashSvc.dll",ServiceMain) -> Found
Place a checkmark next to each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

    • Explain how things are running.
    • Why did you run the tolls in safe mode? Can you not boot up in normal mode?

    Hello Kestrel13,

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it very much..

You had asked, "Did you set this restriction on purpose?

    O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present"

I'm sorry but I don't know what that means. Things are running the same as before, webpages/websites not responding, freezing up, etc.. The internet works just fine. The reason I opened up in safe mode is because when I tried to open Internet explorer, the webpages were either not loading and/or responding but they would also freeze up as well sometimes. I had no problem booting up in normal mode. I wanted to ask you, do you use HiJackThis as a way of tracking/finding malware/viruses? I know a few years back that people used to use HiJackThis as it was very popular, I'm wondering if it is still popular?

    Thank you,
    Chris H.

Re run MGTools in normal mode please. (As in NOT safe mode with networking) Then attach the resulting MGlogs.zip :)

We include it in the set of tools that are run but it is not to be solely relied upon as a malware fighting tool, no. It is just a small part of the many steps that are taken.

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

[IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Explain what issues remain, please.

    Hello,

It seems to be running ok. Do you suggest that I give it a couple of days to see if everything is running ok? To prevent from being infected again with Malware, AdWare, Viruses, etc.. What steps and/or programs do you recommend that I take to keep my computer clean and running as it was before? Should I continue to run my regular daily anti-virus malware scans as I did before?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Here are the final steps which cover many of the question you are asking. Follow the final steps in a couple days if you want to surf around a while.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Hello,

It's been a couple of days and I'm still having problems. When I log into regular mode, I click on Internet Explorer and then windows freezes up again. When I try to close windows, it won't close. I have to hit Control + Alt + Delete to bring up Start Task Manager in order to close any windows that I have open because they're not responding. Do you think somehow I still have malware or viruses somewhere in the computer? I do have old Windows files/folders/programs/ etc.. from which I have backed up before a few years back when I was having the same problems. Do you think that I somehow it backed up with it some malware/viruses along with the files/folders/ etc..? I don't know what else to do except maybe do a Full Windows Install. In the meantime in order to surf, I have to boot up in safe mode.

    Thank you,
    Chris

I would ask about it in the software forum. ;)
