Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, I officially crown this week, the "week of threads that get closed too many times" lol.

I just have noticed that so many threads have been closed, the insulting person who got a great new title, the making money thread and the one asking for support on converting movies.
So, who else will raise a glass in a toast to "week of threads that get closed too many times" ???

Go on, you know you want to!!!!

Count me in,There is just so much stuff going on in the world these days and we just need to remember what the holidays are all about.
Lets just all have another beer, glass of wine, Pepsi or whatever and reflect on how good most of us really have it.

It is basically wine with sugar and spice. Warms your heart this cold time of year. I found this recipe, but there must be hundreds of ways to do it. Or you can do the easy way and buy it ready made! ;)

    1 bottle red wine
    2-3 tablespoons Madeira (optional)
1/2 cup raw sugar, or to taste
    1/3 cup raisins
    1-2 sticks cinnamon
5-6 whole cloves peelings of I orange
    1/4 cup blanched, slivered almonds
1/4 cup vodka to spike it up (optional)

In a large kettle, combine all the ingredients except the vodka. Heat slowly, until the drink is steaming hot. Stir every now and then, and taste with a spoon whenever you feel like it. Do not let the drink get even close to boiling. Just keep it warm. Before serving, add vodka if you wish. Servings: 1 to 6.

From what I found about it's history, it came to Sweden in the 16th century. We did have a trading alliance with the Germans at that time, so it is probably a Swedish version of the Glühwine.

I'm guessing, with the long history of moonshine in this country, that it could have been made from that, to disguise the bad taste of poor moonshine. But that is just a guess. :)
