I'm running XP Pro on a Dell Latitude (2.6gHz & 1gb ram) C540/C640 laptop. After powering up, I reach the login screen in a reasonable (~2 min.) amount of time but after I log in, There is a 15 minute wait until the menu bar appears and the system is usuable. I've done a virus check and also run Ad-Aware, Spybot and MS AntiSpyware Beta. Bootvis shows that almost all of the delay occurs in Login+Serv (960sec) and Shell (1001sec). No other categories exceed 30 seconds. I've included my Hijack Log. Can anyone give me advice on which items look suspicous? I don't see anything that looks odd to me but I'm new to Hijack. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I appreciated the instructions about what to do before posting a Hijack log but my system didn't have the symptoms of the hijacks that these instructions are intended to remove. With a 17 minute boot time, it might have taken me a quite a while to follow every instruction on the list so I tried something different that solved my problem.

I started msconfig and then choose Diagnostic Startup from the General tab. When I rebooted, my system started in less than 2 minutes. From there, I incrementally readded the services and programs that I normally use. The biggest difference in my startup now is that all of the previous entries in the System.ini and Win.ini tabs from msconfig are gone and the computer is booting with all of the programs I use in about 3 minutes. I also uninstalled McAfee antivirus and switched to PC-cillin which I recommend highly. My impression is that PC-cillin offers much more protection than McAfee Antivirus and it also doesn't try to coerce you into buying more of their products with annoying popups . The only downside of PC-cillin I can see so far is that it uses more memory than any of my other resident programs but I can live with that because of the extra protection it provides.
