Yoog Removal Instructions for FireFox and Internet Explorer

First look in Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Contextual Tool Milehighads if you find it. Then reboot if found.

Now look for the below file(s) and delete if found. The second will only exist if you are running a 64 bit version of Windows:
    C:\Windows\system32\cont_milehighads-remove.exe
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cont_milehighads-remove.exe

If the above does not fix your problems, continue on with the below.

Boot your PC in Safe Boot Mode ( see: Starting your computer in Safe mode )

    FireFox Steps:

    • In the URL address box, type about:config and hit enter.
    • You may get a message like "here be dragons". If you do, just click the button that is there.
    • Then you should see a Filter: box. In the Filter box, type keyword As you type this, items will be filtered from the list showing in the window and only a few items will remain. One of them should be keyword.URL
    • Try using Right Click and select Reset if it is not disabled.
    • Then towards the top right of the FireFox window, click the Show All button
    • Then in the form below you will see headings like Preference Name, Status, Type, and Value. Click on Value which will sort the below information based on the Value column
    • Now use the scroll bar to scroll thru this info looking for Yoog or Yoog search. Do you see it in this list? Just take note.
    • Now to the right of the FireFox URL Address box there should be a button used to manage search engines. It should look something like below where you see a little down arrow to the right of the G Click the below thumbnail to expand it.
    ff-searcheng.jpg
    • Click the download arrow and select Manage Search Engines
    • Look for Yoog and select it. Then click the Remove button.
    • Now right click your Start button in the Windows tray and select Explore to open up Windows Explorer.
    • Navigate to the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins folder. Locate the one for Yoog or any others you don't want and right click on it and select Delete.
    • Also navigate to the below folder and make sure nothing for Yoog appears. Replace UserName with your actual user account name. If you see another searchplugins folder, look in it for anything from Yoog and delete it. Note that the default.zdt folder may have different name that looks like random characters (for example like 1op3lem4.default )
      • C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.zdt
      • NOTE: If using Vista, the folder will be more like the below:
        • c:\users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.zdt\
    • Empty your Recycle Bin
    • Reboot in normal mode and see if you still have problems with Yoog or not also check in the Filters/Value column like above to see if Yoog is now gone.
    Internet Explorer Steps:

    For IE7:
    • click the down arrow on the search engines box. See the far right side of the below snapshot. Click on the thumbnail to expand.

    • Reboot in normal mode
    • Search for the DLL file you sway above (possibly it is in your C:\Windows\system32 folder. Delete the file if found.
