I am a first time user of this forum. My husband just called me to his pc. It had a blue screen and the most I can remember it saying is, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU HAVE VIEWED THIS EMERGENCY SCREEN.... then there was about a half a screen of info I was just quickly scanning and I got to the last line which said something about DUMPING and had a counter counting down from 50.

He said a few days ago he noticed a message upon startup that says ONE OF THE FILES CONTAINING THE SYSTEMS REGISTRY DATA HAD TO BE RECOVERED BY USE OF A LOG OR ALTERNATE COPY. THE RECOVERY WAS SUCCESSFUL

He has a AMD processor and XP. He recently had his system reconfigured and we started noticing little things like his font changed on the home screen. And the skin changed on his toolbar. We don't have a clue:(

    Does anyone have any ideas:confused

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You will have to be much more specific and give exact word for work error messages to get proper help.

You also need to tell us what problems are still occurring.

This does not sound like malware problems but if you want to check for malware continue on with the below.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

Note: If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
