Hi everyone. I have an Hp Dv7 laptop, Windows 7, with an Intel Wifi link 5100 AGN Wireless card. Last week my wireless connectivity stopped completely. I can still pick up wireless networks, but cannot connect. My iphone and other devices pick up the same networks just fine. My ethernet adapter still works as well. I have tried everything I can think of. I disabled and enabled the wireless adapter, uninstalled re installed the driver, updated the driver...
I have tried Ipconfig /release and /renew but I am met with an "RPC server is unavailable" error message. I have run out of ideas I would appreciate any suggestions. I'm sure these issues have been discussed incessantly.
    Thank you
    Matthew

    Here is my Ipconfig /all.

The Ethernet adapter seems to have a static IP address where as the wireless adapter is configured for DHCP, have you checked to make sure your DHCP server is working/configured on your router?

The IPv4 address 169.x.x.x typically means it could not acquire an IP address from the DHCP server. You could also try to set the wireless adapter to a static IP to determine if DHCP is having an issue.

Another thing to try, would be to renew the IP Address. You can do this by going to Command Prompt and typing "IPconfig/release" Enter, then "IPconfig/renew" Enter. Without the quotes. What this will do( apologies in advance if I'm not 100% correct on my explanation) is it will terminate the lease on your current IP Address( the 169.x.x.x) with the /release, and then it will request a new IP Address with the /renew.

    Hope it helps. :)

I apologize, I missed where you had stated the above. Please disregard my reply. :)

What LordOlives said, plus disconnect your ethernet cable. Once your laptop connects via wireless, it will warn you that you can't be connected to two connections at once. Unless you have disabled a setting in the bios to allow them both to work at the same time, your wired connection has precedence over the wireless.
