Rear Speakers wil not work

    I have a Creative 5:1 Audio system on a Compaq Desktop.
    Despite having replaced the sound card three times with new ones, I can either have front speakers working or rear, but not both.
    The Sub-woofer has three inputs, orange black and green, clearly marked Rear, Centre and Woofer/Front.
    The outgoing cables are similarly marked.
    I use Windows Vista.
    Can anyone help, please?
