Mic suddenly stopped working

Ok so before I begin i would just like to say, i am not the best when it comes to computers so if any of you guys have a soloution you may nee to break it down for me

Anyway so yesterday, I was on a skype call to my friend, when all of a sudden, my mic muted. I check Realtek HD Audio Manager and it showed my mic to be working fine. I went into Recording Devices > Microphone > Propeties and i checked listen to this device, it didnt work.

I unplugged my mic and plugged it back in. then realtek hd wouldnt recognise that i had put anything in the back pink jack. so i plugged my mic and headset into the front green and pink jack, realtek recognised it but it still wouldn't work. Now for some reason, whenever i try plugging in my mic, it doesnt work but instead i get a ton of static noise from my headset.

Easiest solution, try a different mic to determine if it is the mic, the port, or software/driver.
