    Hi.

    Is 'Firefox Safe Mode' secure?
I ask because I've heard some people say they have problems with addons on certain site e.g. banking.
Is the security level equal on Firefox vs 'Firefox Safe Mode'?

    Thanks.

It is only as secure as the person using the computer. That "Safe Mode" for firefox is doing, is placing your browsing into a "Sandbox". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandbox_(computer_security)

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode in Firefox is often used first to troubleshoot any problems that may have arisen due to extensions. It's not used as a sandbox.

It is still placing the browser into a "Sandbox" or "Jail" mode, that limits what can and cannot be done with it.

Sandbox is a generic term, just like using "Jail" when placing a OS or software into a mode that you do not allow certain items to run in a normal operation. As for troubleshooting, placing Firefox into "Safe" or "Secured" mode is for more than just troubleshooting things.

The term *sandbox* refers to a software sandbox that puts a browser in a sandbox and is a complete different animal. It protects, see:

Safemode in Firefox is only a temporary solution to find out if the below-mentioned addons cause problems for the browser.

If only someone had answered the op question the first time. Sigh. As you can see, I answered, was thanked and the op is happy. Everything from there was a waste of time and adds confusion.
