when i bought my laptop the guy told me it had a long life battery like 5 or 6 hours but it turns out it only runs for an hour and a half so i need a long life battery i plan on saving up for it

i also need an ac battery cause my dog chewed through the cord the little scamp

so i got a lot of saving to do probubly 1000 dollors unless i buy them used but i want brand new batteries

im hoping you guys can give me some opinions on which batteries are the best for the money

What brand Laptop do you have and how old is the battery?
You may have a long life battery thats just getting old.
Not very many Laptops can go 5 or 6 hours on a battery, especially if your using the CDROM or DVD player, WIFI will also slightly shorten the time you can run along with the brightness of the screen.

I run a Thinkpad T23 and can go 5-6 hours if I run 2 batteries, the regular one and an additional one in the UltraBay. On the main battery I'm good for 2-3 hours with the screen on bright and the WIFI on.

I forgot to mention that the new battery would probably cost from $80 to $160 depending on the specific battery. eBay has some good prices but you need to be careful not to buy the cheep China Batteries. Most of them are junk. Tou can probably also find aN AC adapter on eBay as well.

I'd look on eBay for the parts you need. As far as the battery I'd go with a genuine Fujitsu. I've always found that the best battery life comes from the batterys from the original Manufacturer.

You can try reconditioning your battery by running it down to completely dead and then charging it over night. Do that about 3 times and it may extend the life a little bit. It May give you 2 hours.

As far as traveling, at any truck stop you can get a unit that plugs into the cigarrette lighter in the vehicle that will power your regular AC adapter so you can have your laptop on all the way accross the country.

I think the thing with the cord your calling the battery is actually the AC adapter also called the the battery charger. You can find those on eBay, new and used. Used would be OK as long as the seller has good feedback and is willing to guarantee it to be good.
