I am working with McAfee from ATT DSL. Having trouble getting it to work properly. ATT Says it's due to Super AntiSpyware ("Bad Software"). I don't care for McAfee, but willing to try anything to protect, since it's part of the DSL Pkg.
Can SAS be removed.? I can't find any removal tool anywhere. It does not appear in ADD/Rmove Programs....
2nd Problem, my browsers keep getting reset to "PROXY" mode. Any suggestions?

McAfee & AT&T are both idiots. FYI, SuperAntiSpy is one of the best antispyware programs available today as we use it daily. This may or may not be related to your DSL problem but I wouldn't think so. It's possible an infection you have may be blocking access to the internet or something simliar but I don't see SAS causing you to not be able to access the internet.

Did you purchase SAS or just use it for a scanning?

Has you DSL ever worked on the computer it's not working on now?

    Is this a new computer?

If you think it's malware related, I would recommend running the instructions below. This will eliminate the possibility of it being malware related.

I downloaded SAS from this forum for scanning. Couldn't find any uninstall function (thought it might be interfering with McAfee).
I was wary of ATT's finger pointing, and McAfee has burned me before.
This PC is a year or more old. Has worked in this spot for a long time. Couldn't connect wirelessly for a spell, could see the network but couldn't get on line. I finally restored operating system from HP restore (On board) everything came back OK. I had been using Norton for Virus and spyware but ATT dropped support for it...so McAfee was their replacement, but I can't get it to install properly. Thanks. I'll go through Read and Run... Do you think that "Proxy Mode" issue is Malware problem? Thanks

Did you format or just do a repair of the current install?

I personally recommend Avast! AntiVirus or AVG AntiVirus simply because they are free and do a better job than Norton or McAfee. Norton & McAfee use a lot of system resources and do not do a good job in detecting/removing infections. I would recommend our thread on How to Protect yourself from malware! for a list of programs we recommend.

If you mean that something is adding a proxy server to your browser, it's very possible but with any logs I can't say for sure.
