Hi, I had a google redirect, bleeko, thpsrv and other malware problems. I thought that I had fixed it but am still having problems. I tried running system restore yesterday and it ran for over 24hours. Some people here helped me figure out to get the computer back. The computer is working but the redirect is back.

I followed the Fixing Google Redirect and Read and Run Me first steps.

I was unable to run MBRcheck. I tried all three links, both by run as admin and double clicking on the icon. Nothing showed up on the screen, but it was listed in the processes section of task manager.

I couldn't activate HitmanPro. It said free license has expired. I ran a scan anyway but it came back clean.

Malwarebytes quick scan came back clean

    Thanks for your help

Let's try a simple reset to defaults for Firefox which I assume you are using.

    Reset Firefox to Defaults

    Did that resolve the problem?

After resetting firefox with no addons, I am not getting directed to random sites. But when I type a search in google a page flashes "please click here if you are not redirected within a few seconds."

After running the last set of scans 2 desktops icons popped up. They look like a notepad with a cog in the center. Both are called desktop.inc One is dated 7/13/2012, the other 11/26/2012

Hi, this is not a bump but an update. I tried resetting firefox 2 more times. And the last ones seems to have fixed it (hopefully).

But when I tried to empty the folders of past firefox preferences a norton warning popped up. It was (what seemed to be) a bunch of random letters and numbers. I forgot to mention before that this has been happening when I try to empty the for the past 2 weeks. Some of the warnings came started with a $ Most started with either a number or letter. The last warning was +mHmjT_I.exe.part. It also said details unknown. I usually empty the recycling bin with CCleaner, but have also tried it the normal way. The warnings have popped up when using both.

Norton should be disabled when trying to clean things out. You had the below junk in your temp folder
    Code:

Not sure if you are still having problems or not at this point. However if you still have issues with Firefox, I suggest that you uninstall it now and then reboot. After reboot, delete the below folders:

    C:\Users\Protege\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

Then use IE to download and reinstall Firefox from >> Mozilla Firefox 17.0.1 Final
