I've run the steps for the malware removal guide after having a browser redirect + adware infecting my browser windows that turned up today (very suspiciously, as I was gone all day...) The immediate symptoms (redirect & ads) have gone away and things appear to be back to normal, but I still saw some suspicious-looking things turn up in some of the scans.

For fear that there might be more going on behind the scenes that needs to be dealt with, I wanted to get a second look here. Follow-up post will be forthcoming to include a 6th log file, the JRT log, which I also ran and seemed to remove several things.

    Hello there. :)

Re run Hitman Pro and have it remove Malware Remnants and Potential Unwanted Programs.

    Delete these:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Chheape4all
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Instapaper

Now explain how things are running.

Completed those steps, and looks all good! I'll go back and complete the remaining steps of the clean-up.

Out of curiosity was the infection on here something that could have piggybacked on another download or something? I'm truly stumped as to where it came from... :confused

In any event, thanks are in order; I seem to have to come back to this malware removal guide every couple of years (I'm getting a liiiiittle too familiar with it by this point) and you guys always do a great job! I'll definitely be sending along a small donation to express my gratitude for the assistance over the years :)

    I have no idea.

Thankyou so much for wanting to donate. We really appreciate it! :)

    Final steps outlined below....

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
