Thanks! When I first came to MG, I had no idea what folding was. Now I'm working (my PC) for a good cause. Happy folding! :D

Well I'm keeping up the Folding with a bunch of slow Gromacs. I've got one, a P581_BRA5_tip4p that is taking 1 hour and forty minutes a frame on my 2.8 P-4

what kind of system are you running animatorStrike? I started folding at about the same time and now i'm up in the 45th position currently, i think HT really kicks butt for folding :)

I always thought my system was decent.

    CPU: 2.99 GHz Pentium 4
    RAM: 768 MB

I wasn't always folding everyday, though.

That is a decent system, atleast i hope so seing how i have a 3.0GHz prescott. Is that the Northwood of Prescott you have?

I leave this computer folding 24/7 with 2 folding sessions, I figure if it doesn't blow up under warranty then it should be good for atleast five years :)

Think I did about 19000 points in 3 months for custompc so I'm gonna try hard for 'our' team now (custompc are now about 37th) ;)

About time somebody started getting serious!
I'm splitting up my processor time now between 2 teams which as of last night includes MG. I Put four of my puters in anothers name just for the heck of it for a week or so, that being the reason mgrist wasn't moving, doesn't matter they all go to the same place, right????????

    Heh :D

Well, I'm still cruising along... I did try and get one of me other machines folding but it ain't go enuff RAM to keep it running without the client crashing. I'll have to find a HDD for it.

  32. animatorStrike

For some reason my WU's are always huge and it takes like a day to complete one. I'd say my system is pretty good, but it's gonna have to do better to crunch out these WU's lol. :p

  34. Robster12

Goldfish... did you ever do any more work toward a diskless, boot off the net client?

I am going to try to save up some money, and have a rig w/o a monitor, keyboard, mouse, or harddrive, and boot it off a LAN from my (only) rig that I have now.

Will spread the wealth around, myself, too. I wanna see if I can pull it off.

Any clustering with you? Just curious.

  35. goldfish

    goldfish Lt. Sushi.DC

I can get it to cluster using Windows Server 2003... which is what I'm doing currently .... but I can't get knoppix to boot and run the client by itself (which would give a better speed, I recon) because its not got enough ram.

I'd imagine I can scrape together some ram from someone, particularly my friend who I gave 256MB to get XP running for, who should be getting a new PC quite soon. Heck, he might even give me the whole PC! :D Now that would be awesome.

Also, I've got a P4 Mobo sitting around which needs a new CMOS battery, perhaps a new BIOS chip, but I have no P4 to put in it, or RAM for that matter. That should be good if I can get it running :D

    My name is Coldfusion16.

I was wondering what out team name is. I thought it was majorgeeks.com but it doesn't show up on the folding@home site. There's only one folding@home right?

    I signed up through worldcommunitygrid.org

It seems that the stanford folding@home is different than the worldcommunitygrid one. Either that or the program interface is different.

    Hello fellow Majorgeeks.com Folders.

I finnally have stats posted and am looking forward to yet another update on my stats before 2005.

My WU finish in approx. 24 minutes per frame using idle cpu cycles, 23 minutes and 50 seconds using normal cpu cycles and have not as yet benchmarked applying high priority to my cpu cycles on "FAHCORE_65.EXE" and "WINFAH.EXE"

    I use a freeware program:

    PrcView to change the set_priority.

I am running Win98SE, Firefox, 256MB 133MHz 3-3-3 on a Dell OptiPlex GX110 which seems to do well for Folding.

    I also use program:

EMI III Version 3.0.7 (12/11/2004) to view the results of messin' around with the cpu cycles and I prefer this program to the win graphical interface client of Folding@Home

    Keep up the work people!

    Thx. Majorgeeks!
