My HP printer is stuck on "deleting-printing" when I tried to cancel a document that would not complete printing. It says it's printed 14/12 pages! It's just frozen. I have unplugged printer from pc, from power, cycled on/off, power cycled pc, and I can delete other jobs when they won't print, either, because this top job is stuck. Can anyone help me 'unstick' this printer, so that I can print some other things? Canceling all jobs only cancelled all the other jobs, but not this top one, which is stuck. :cry

    Thanks, Sandy

    Assuming XP:

Start, run, type cmd and click ok.

    At the command prompt, type:

    net stop spooler

    hit enter.

    It should process ok.

    Then net start spooler

    hi enter

    See how that works out.

Thanks Adrynalyne, for the tip. The problem appears to be a "Feature" on HP Printers. My HP PSC 1410 All-in_one suffers from the same "Feature". ;)

If you continue to have to do that, it may be easier to create a batch file and just double click the batch file every time you have the issue.

    Try this:
    Open up Notepad.
Copy and past the following into Notepad:
    @echo off
    echo.
echo Purging the print queue . . .
    net stop Spooler
echo Deleting all print jobs . . .
    ping localhost -n 4 > nul
    del /q %SystemRoot%\system32\spool\printers\*.*
    net start Spooler
    echo Done!
    ping localhost -n 4 > nul

Save it as something like Purge Print Spooler.bat

Then, all you have to do is double click the batch file every time you want to restart the print spooler.
*Note* This will also purge the print que as well.

Thanks, MickeyRoush. I've done a similar thing. Not as posh as your *.bat files, though. :D Bazza
