Hi there,
Long time MG user but first-time poster :-} I hope this is the right forum to post this in. I mainly use the Internode mirror of mac.majorgeeks.com for Mac application updates. For some time now, every download fails with varying errors depending on the browser. I've tried Safari, Chrome, Firefox on OS X 10.7.3 and 10.5.8. Also Chrome, Firefox and IE on Win7 & XP. Basically, clicking the Internode link in mac.majorgeeks.com redirects the browser to ftp://majorgeeks.mirror.internode.on.net/mac/... . The errors appear to centre around permissions for ftp access to the file. Experimenting has shown me that the redirect should be http://majorgeeks.mirror.internode.on.net/mac/... ,i.e. http NOT ftp. If I manually change the post-redirect URL in my browser's address bar to http://, the file downloads fine. So I have a workaround which is fine for the short term, but it will be a royal PITA if it goes on indefinitely. I have been told by Internode support staff that MG handles this. Could whoever controls the MG redirection please change it to use http:// for the Internode MG mirror, please? TIA. |

OK. Somethings changed, but not for the better, I'm afraid.
Now clicking the Internode mirror link for a file now redirects back to http://majorgeeks.com, not to the file on the Internode mirror. So, I now cannot use my old workaround, because I do not get any URL for the file on the Internode mirror to modify as I described earlier. I've sent a "Bad Link" email, but this applies to ALL the Mac.MajorGeeks files which have an Internode mirror link, not just an individual file. Please help. EDIT: Make that "I TRIED to send a "Bad Link" email..." . It bounced. Great... Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: krista@majorgeeks.com Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 535 535 #5.7.0 Authentication failed (SMTP AUTH failed with the remote server) (state 8). Last edited by tyrotex; 03-15-12 at 02:13.. It's being worked on. Turns out that a website has cloned our work and uses the Internode links for their downloads. I think we are changing it to https or something but we are aware and it is being worked on.

Because it works better for us as far as mirroring goes with different operating system we are using.
