Random Music, Browser Cookies

I recently had a serious infection from several different Malware programs including Virtumonde and others. By using Ad-Aware, Spy Sweeper, VundoFix.exe, and AVG, I have been able to get rid of most of the pop-ups, but I still get random music playing, and everytime Spy Sweeper runs it finds several new tracking cookies. I suspect the computer is stil infected, but no other malware programs are being detected by the tools listed above. Any help would be appreciated.

I have completed the process and the requested log files are attached. Everything installed and completed, but for some reason AVG did not create a report, even though the "create report every time" button is clicked. I can run another scan if necessary, but thought I would post the other files first. AVG did find some threats, and they are listed below.
    Dowloader.Agent.ipm
    Hijacker.IFrame.dn
    Trojan.Small
    TrackingCookie.Yieldmanager
    TrackingCookie.Atdmt
    TrackingCookie.Doubleclick
    TrackingCookie.Mediaplex
    TrackingCookie.Statcounter
    TrackingCookie.Tribalfusion

Thanks in advance for your help. Let me know what the next steps are.

Cookies are not problems! See step 11 in the below link:

How to Protect yourself from malware!

Based on your logs you had missed a bunch during your previous cleanup attempts. ComboFix took care of quite a bit but we have a little more to do.

Is your copy of Spy Sweeper a paid version or free trial? If free, uninstall it as it will not help you fix anything.

I see you must have also ran Adware Alert which is not a good idea and we will be removing any signs of it.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1AAD670C-B461-5E9C-8426-12557EA12949} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: {24b23b2c-b1c1-eb8a-2394-f7f638b11223} - {32211b83-6f7f-4932-a8be-1c1bc2b32b42} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E0BC3158-856C-467D-94E6-A9AC72BC4956} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqpm.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O16 - DPF: {1D0D9077-3798-49BB-9058-393499174D5D} - file://c:\counter.cab
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: wvuvuuv - wvuvuuv.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqpm.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\AdwareAlert Scheduled Scan.job
    C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert\AdwareAlert.exe

    Folder::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Home\Application Data\AdwareAlert
    C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert
    C:\Program Files\Drmupgds
    C:\Program Files\Enigma Software Group
    C:\WINDOWS\UnVzcyBQYXR0ZW4

    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\session manager]
    "PendingFileRenameOperations"=-
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{E0BC3158-856C-467D-94E6-A9AC72BC4956}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\wvuvuuv]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\Aida]

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it.

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Chaslang,

I have completed the process below, and have attached the two log files. I will use the system today and see how things go, and let you know.

The version of Spysweeper I am using is the paid for version.
I will follow the instructions in the "Protecting Yourself" link below
The only other issue (minor) that I have is that since the Malware attack, the desktop icon text has a blue background rather than transparent. I have read a few posts about this, and have tried to check and un-check the appropriate performance boxes to no avail. This is not a significant issue, but I thought I would ask as it seems to have started with this attack.

Thanks again for your assistance. Let me know how the logs look.

    Russ

Okay then uninstall AVG Antispyware now!

Okay if the other mentioned fixes do not work, you would be better off posting this in the Software Forum. It may be a registry key or some other issue with the Desktop or icons.

Your logs are clean! If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix then UNINSTALL COMBOFIX (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN
      • Now type combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
      • Note: The space between the X and the /U, it must be there.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you run RenV.exe, you can delete it and the Log.txt file on your Desktop.
    9. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    10. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    11. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    12. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    13. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

The system is running great, and I am using the steps you recommend to protect the system from Malware.

    Thank you very much.
