A friend used a software on my PC with Windows 8 OS and since then no program is running. The programs installed in "Program Files" like Microsoft office are still working but all those installed in "Program Files (x64)" are not running.

They show an 0xc0000005 error. After a lot of searching online and trying everything from Automatic Repair to CHKDSK. I found Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and I am trying it. I have run it using command prompt and scanned the system and gotten an FRST.txt file.

I would be grateful if anyone can provide a fixlist file for me so I use it to fix my system.

    Thanks!!!

    (FRST.txt file is uploaded)

Hello and welcome to MajorGeeks :)

    Download this >> fixlist.txt

Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.
Now reboot back into the System Recovery Options as you did previously.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (See how to attach)

    Hello thisisu,

Thanks for your quick reply. I have downloaded the fixlist file and fixed it using FRST64. I got a fix completed message but the problem with my PC was not fixed.

Whenever I try to run an application, I still get the error
"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application".

Pls I would like to know if you can recommend another solution for my problem even if it involved formatted my local disk or losing some data. I already have all my important data backed-up.

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi,

If you already have your data backed up and don't mind wiping the OS and reinstalling, that would be the quickest / easiest solution. Otherwise, you should try completing as much of this as possible: READ & RUN ME FIRST Malware Removal Guide

    Hello thisisu, ;)

I have viewed the link but I can't run any of those applications because my system won't even install them. It will not install or run any application. :(

About formatting and reinstalling the OS, I can sure format but I might have a problem with reinstalling because my Windows 8 was pre-installed. I don't have a Windows 8 disk.

Pls is there anyway you can help? :cry

    Try a factory reset then

Go to the Windows 8 Start Screen and type Advanced. When the search results appear click on the Settings category.
Now click on the option labeled Advanced startup options
Look to the right and select the Get Started button next to Refresh your PC without affecting your files or Remove everything on Reinstall Windows
From there just follow the rest of the prompts.

I already tried that but I am told to insert a window 8 boot cd which I don't have.

Yeah without that CD it's very limited what we can do.

Have you tried sfc /scannow from the command prompt?

    That's great. :)
I would look into creating your own recovery CD/USB for Windows 8 or another OS. I'm not too familiar with Windows 8 but perhaps this will help you: Create a USB recovery drive
There are similar articles explaining this, I just linked this one since it was by Microsoft.
Either way though, you're going to want to have a way to recovery your system in case something like this happens again in the future.
