ok this is frusterating me, My sister just moved to her new place and is sharing her Rogers connection with her roommates. So i go down today to hook it up, and........ BAM nothing, for some reason any computer connected to the router cant see the modem.....

Is there something sitting right in front of me, which is very possible, that i am missing.....

    any help would be great......

A little more info would be helpful!
What operating systems are everyone using?
Are they all in the same workgroup?
Do they have IPs that the router is filtering?
Does your router have a web interface?
Does everyone have the router as their gateway?

Before worrying about ICS, I would make sure that the network itself is functioning properly. Once that has been established, you can set up (most likely an XP machine) an ICS host, and begin sharing the connection from there.

Keep in mind also that some ISPs do not like the idea of having a network setup like this. I haven't checked out Roger's policies, but they could try to prevent you from having a router behind their modem.

Yes a bit more info is needed...

Was the LinkSys Router there before or you adding it?

I could not get my LinkSys to work either (with the supplied CD) I had to go online (via the modem) and was able to download an install program which fixed my problem. I did notice that the IP to access the router needed to be changed to avoid a conflict with my Modem.

You should also visit your ISP providers web site. They may have some info as well.

Shutting down the Modem for a few minutes may allow them to be seen too.

    Hope this helps.

Well I had that problem! I remember that I had to set the router to be seen by the modem, yes, shut the modem off. And, the roger account should be modified on the base computer. To get access to the net through rogers, just change that detection to automatic.
