The drivers are corrupt. Every attempt I have made to fix them has failed. I've uninstalled and rebooted. I've tried installing from my Dell disks. I've tried to have it fix via the net...

    any suggestions???

    here's the info on both:
    _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A
    HL-DT- DVD-ROM GDR8162B

    Thanks in advanced!!!!

if you go into the device manager and double click on one of the cdroms, what message does it give you in the device status window?

if your happy doing it, i would open up the case and,

    1. check cables to cdrom are pushed in firmly.. pull them out then plug back in

    2. change the ide cable for a new or known working one

    3. if you can borrow or have a spare cdrom try that on the cable to narrow down a defective cable or cdrom
