Confusing. Try Safe Mode with Networking and try to download Tweaking.com, install it, then leave safe mode and run it.

Go here
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ows-7-fix.html
scroll down until you see If you don't have BITS service or cannot to run it,none of previous method help and download the registry file. This will import BITS into your registry.
Make sure you print out the directions under the download link.

I tried Safe Mode with Networking and downloaded Tweaking.com, install it, but it would not run. I also did the "If you don't have BITS service or cannot to run it,none of previous method help..." Windows update still does not open

Go to Control Panel, click on Administrative Tools, and click Services, or open the Start Menu, and in the search line type, services.msc and press enter.
Scroll until you see Background Intelligent Transfer Services, and check if it is started, if not click start in the left corner. If you didn't know if it was in Services,, how did you know it wasn't there or started or not ?? Just wondering.

Aloha, I have been working with the guys in the sotware forum with little success. They think I may still have a malware issue so sent me back. I follwed all the READ AND RUN instructions
however when I get to Enable User Account Control (UAC) section it will not open so I am unable to continue.

Re: Trojan Horse Generic28.ANIC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download Windows Repair by Tweaking.com and unzip the contents into a newly created folder on your desktop.

Now run Repair_Windows.exe by double clicking on it ( if you are running Vista or Win 7, use right click and select Run As Administrator)
Now select the Start Repairs tab.
The click the Start button.
Create a System Restore point if prompted.
On the next screen, click the Unselect All button to first deselect all repairs.
Now select the following repair options:

Reset Registry Permissions
Reset File Permissions
Register System Files
Repair WMI
Repair Windows Firewall
Remove Policies Set By Infections
Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
Repair Proxy Settings
Repair Windows Updates
Set Windows Services To Default Startup

Now on the lower right side check the box to Restart/Shutdown System When Finished
Then make sure the Restart System radio button is enabled.
Shutdown any other programs that you are running now before continuing.
Now click the Start button.
Be patient while the tool repairs the selected items.
It should reboot automatically when finished.

Do you have your install disc? If so, go to start / run / and type in:
sfc /scannow.

I have Factory Default Backup discs that I made when I first got this laptop but not a install disc. I tried the sfc /scannow and a small black popup appeared briefly and disappeared.

I am afraid we have gone about as far as we can in the malware forum. Seek additional help in the software forum.

Default Re: Windows Update

Was following this thread and also similar issues on another techsite. This is in regards to BITS. Effects of a new variant of ZeroAccess. To think the fix was simple.

Quote:
The Windows Update program listed error #80246008 when the download failed, which is the BITS service. I tried to start BITS (it's set to Automatic (delayed start) already) but the error 'Module cannot be found' pops up?
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=102903.0

I'll not post a link of the other techsite, but the above is from Avast's forum.
Head to page two.

I'll quote essexboy and kudos to him. It deletes the service.
Open an elevated command prompt:
Quote:
Go Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right click Command Prompt select Run as Administrator
In the Black Box type the following :

sc delete bits
Next download and run the Reg fix from plodr's post#22 or from essexboy's post. If you are interested in the other techsite's link I can PM you the link as Windows Updated.

Cheers..

Cheers..

Adele, do not tack your problem into someone else's thread.
Please go here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21
click on the new thread button, explain your problem and mention what version of windows you are running.
