    :confused My OS: WinXP Home/SP2. I have noticed the following entries in the Registry Editor: HKEY_Local_Machine\software:
    "Schlumberger" and "swearware"
    I have no idea what these are and would appreciate any advice as to what they may be...and whether to delete or not. Thanks.

    HI

    Schlumberger is quite likely listed as part of Smart Card technologhy that was added in SP2, references in registry should be in these exact keys

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Schlumberger]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\Defaults\Provider\Schlumberger Cryptographic Service Provider]

    as for "swearware" educated guess from a memory is its from Combofix, so have you run combofix at all? if you expand the key does it lok like this?

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\swearware]
    combofix_wow = "07-08-30.2"
    Runs = "1"
    snapshot = "C:\qoobox\snapshot_2007-08-30_193803.17"

    :wave Halo & Kestrel: Thanks guys..you've set my mind at ease. I did a HiJackThis log once and ran Combofix so I know where this came from now.
    Also just installed SP2 which accounts for Schlumberger. Many thanks.
