HELP! Gateway ML3108b Laptop upgrade Ram & Processor

I have been given a Gateway ML3108b Laptop for Christmas.
It is loaded with Vista home basic which I intend to wipe and install XP pro instead.

At present their is only 512mb of ram in it. Can any one advise on the best ram I should be looking for to upgrade the machine to 2GB? remembering I shall be using xp pro and not vista...

An EBay dealer suggested I could only use 'Corsair Value Select 1024Mb DDR2 533MHz SODIMM Memory' is this right? :confused

Also, is it possible to easily upgrade the processor for this machine?

Perhapse someone has a link to a service manual for this model - I have searched but cannot find one.

and grab all the drivers you will need if you want to install XP.

Go to www.crucial.com and let the site scan your computer. It will tell you the proper RAM and also the maximum that the notebook will support.
