RAMExpert : All you need to know about your system's memory

Hello,

After SUMo, KCleaner, IDPhotoStudio and other popular free software, i'm back with another freeware called RAMExpert.

RAMExpert give you full access to your memory specifications : Manufacturer, type (DDR2, DDR3,...) and give you indications about your system growth capabities (used / free RAM slots) in order to go for an upgrade and boost your system's performance.

Ok Kyle, here's my problem. When installing RAM Expert, the first thing you get is the option to install Relevant Knowledge, then after the install there is the option to install other software, which I opted out of, but it still installed on my machine. I also installed Kcleaner which I really like but again had the Relevant Knowledge option, but this time there was no other software option, but when I looked at my desktop, Driver Update and Update to Sumo was also in on my desktop. I'm not sure if they were links to other software or not, because I refused to click them, and quickly removed all the software, because I felt that I should have the option on incl.uding what should be on my desktop.

 

- Regarding Relevant Knowledge : As stated on our "Download page", if you choose NoRK or Lite installer it will not be proposed. Using regular installer will make RK being proposed, but it can be rejected during install.
- Icons should only be added if you tick "desktop icons" during setup

Regarding RAM Expert, does it detects your memory banks correctly ?

 

During install of Kcleaner the "desktop Icons" option was not present. RAM Expert showed 4 bays but only had 1gb listed in the first bay, the others were not listed, I have 2.50 gb, 1 gb, and 3- 512 mb. Also Kcleaner worked perfectly, but like I said there was no mention of including the other icons. I have used your software before and was very impressed.

 

May i see a screenshot of what you get ?
May i see how "dpeccy" displays your RAM info ?

Kyle, I'll have to get back with you on that unless someone else here has installed the software because I uninstalled it and Malwarebytes has just finished removing the leftover files (P.U.P.) and I am using my pc for work too at the moment, but I will try to get it on a test machine as soon as possible .

I installed and ran the first version of RAMExpert.

I have 2GB of PC2-6400s memory (2 x 1GB). They are different brands (1 - Hynix, 1 - Samsung). RAMExpert incorrectly identified them as DDR-3. They are DDR-2 and my computer only supports DDR-2 modules. No other information about the modules showed in the RAMExpert interface and the Get Specification link didn't work.

I had installed and ran your HDDExpert as well, if you recall, and it had incorrectly reported a 40°C (104°F) temperature as being high in my laptop. BTW, the actual temperature was 86°F.

Sorry Kyle, but it seems your software isn't designed as such for the purpose you say it's intended for. I've seen a lot of links to Amazon and RAMExpert came bundled with a lot of third party software.

 

Hey, how come this guy (Kyle_Katarn) gets to shamelessly plug and beta test his software on this forum. I mean no disrespect, I just don't see anyone else doing it and quite frankly think the whole forum would morph into something entirely different if moderators were to allow all software developers to do the same thing on a hot site like Major Geeks.

 

Regarding incorrect memory type (DDR3 instead of DDR2) and incorrect temperature, would you please be so kind to open bug reports here : http://www.kcsoftwares.com/bugs ? I'll have them corrected asap. Please attach screenshot for investigation.

Regarding link to amazon : All of them have been removed.

Regarding sponsors during installation : Read our download page disclaimer ( http://www.kcsoftwares.com/?download ) and use "lite" installer if you don't want to see any of them.

I have just downloaded and used RAMExpert. Half the info is missing and the app shows the RAM to be SDRAM instead of DDR3. The free (3-year old) System Information for Windows 2011 correctly displayes all the info. Have a look at the screenshots.

 

May i have RAMExpert log file for analysis please ?

I'm going to wager a guess that he didn't sign it.

Yes but Scpeccy use raw SPD data while RAMExpert use SMBus... less reliable ....

I'd argue it wasn't important before, but it is now. The smart screen filter on Win8+ does not make it apparent on how to bypass and install.
