I purchased an external hard drive from a thrift store recently because it was really cheap. I was thinking of just formatting it but it turns out it has like 300+ GB of stuff saved on it and now I'm a little curious to see whats there. I ran a virus scan with Avast and it found about 38 questionable files, then i did a scan with malwarebytes and it found a 6 more things, and finally i did a boot time scan with avast and it found a few more things. My question is, is it safe to open it up now or is there any other scans i should run before i do anything? THanks
