I have apparently been infected badly. Can't boot into XP normally. Hangs after splash screen completes the little blue activity buttons.
Using safe mode, started cleaning procedure. Downloaded all recommended cleaning tools. Then tried to install Super Anti-Spyware, and received message "System administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."
Searched for hours for solution. No luck.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Just continue on with the other steps using safe boot mode. If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

Attach the other requested logs when finished.

    1. My problem started about 4 days ago.
    2. I downloaded all the recommended cleaner apps, and only Super Anti-spyware would not install. Nothing in the registry refers to this app.

    3. There is nothing I can remember doing, downloading, or transferring files from outside sources that could have caused my infection. I did do a periodic scan and correction using Regcure, and (perhaps) Registry Patrol, but I was so busy with other tasks, nothing really registered with me.

    4. I continued with scans using Spybot S&D, Malware Bytes, Combo Fix and MG Tools.

I have attached logs from MWBAM, Combo and MG.

Thanks for any suggestions you can make.

The good news is that your logs are clean. The bad news is also that your logs are clean and you are in the wrong forum. ;) Try posting in the Software Forum. I suggest that you undo whatever you did with the registry cleaning tools. Perhaps that is where you problems began. Also look into doing a System Restore to a date and time before where you problems began.

Thanks very much for analyzing the logs. I'll move to the software forum.

Unfortunately, whatever problem I have also affected System Restore. I did, in fact, restore to several earlier dates, but I couldn't set a new restore point prior to all the latest scans because the option was nowhere to be found on the apps' restore page.

I'm going to try to repair the Windows XP installation.
    Thanks again.
