I was installing Rome Total War when the power went out, shutting down my computer. The game is now partially installed, and it won't let me uninstall it either through the wizard or add/remove programs list. I deleted the folder containing the installed material, but the computer still considers the game to be installed, but I cannot play it or uninstall it. Is there any workaround aside from reformating? Thanks.

I have Windows XP Pro (no system packs)
    Athlon 64 3500+
    1 Gb RAM
    ATi Radeon X800 XT

Have you tried running the installer again, or does it unsuccessfully attempt to uninstall when you run it?

You could try searching for the game in the registry, but that can be risky. Try using CCleaner to find the invalid game-related registry entries and delete them (click Issues on the sidebar). Then try restarting and running the installer to see if it still detects game fragments.

just reinstall. Has worked for me in the past.

Try doing a system restore to a recent point. That should clear the registry of any remnants of the failed install.
