    I would appreciate help, when someone has time. I know each of you are busy. Thank you for taking the time.
    I have a Dell computer with Vista Home premium using Firefox 3.0.8
    For about 2 weeks now My Yahoo home page is redirected to another yahoo page which has a large orange banner across top of page.
    I have run spy ware, ad ware, and anti virus programs, but no change.
    I found your site and have followed the Read me first Malware Removal Guide.
    Below are the results from each log. Thanks, Rudolph

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    Your logs do not show any problems. Exactly where are you being redirected to? Perhaps you are misinterpreting what is happening. Maybe you are not get redirected, maybe you are running into issues due to URL Assistant software that is still installed on your PC from Dell. Try uninstalling this junk and maybe you will find that your problem was that URL Assistant was sending you somewhere else when an advertising link on a page was getting blocked.

    You also should uninstall Viewpoint Media Player

    Questions:

    1. Did you knowingly install the below toolbars?
      • Ask.com Toolbar
      • HughesNet Toolbar
    2. Why are all the below in your ProxyOverride? Are you using a proxyserver?
      • 64.136.29.30;64.136.44.66;64.136.29.34;searchap.untd.com;127.0.0.1;localhost;*microsoft.com;
      • *windowsupdate.com;*wustat.windows.com;*.pogo.com;*test-speed.com;
      • liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com;*symantec.com;*.nai.com;*.networkassociates.com;

    Thank you, I deleted all url asst. viewpoint, ask.com and hughes net tool bars. I restarted and my browser still takes me to http://my.yahoo.com/?_bc=1 instead of http://my.yahoo.com/
    The proxyoverride, I do not understand. I went to control panel, internet opt. connections, dialup network had proxy checked.
    I uncheked it. went to lan the box for proxy server was not checked. I ran hijack this again and the proxy override is still listed.

    This is normal and what you will see when using FireFox to goto my.yahoo.com. It is the same page. You are not being hijacked. If you use IE, you will see it always shows the page as just my.yahoo.com

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
