    I am on dial up, and have two computers, one works fine the other is getting this error box after dialing up. Status error 404 Can't resolve Host Name to IP address. Then IE comes up and goes to a cannot find page. Can't go any further what ever url I click on doesn't do any differnet, email will not connect either. The online icon in the task bar is showing online and has recieved some and sent some. This is really dumb as it was okay the day before. Really :confused:

    My other computer gets online with no problems, they were both working okay, and then the one just quit logging on. If what you said were so, wouldn't they both be doing that?

    not necessarily.. it could be something specific to your PC and it's DUN configuration. when you dial up and connect, check your IP to see if you have one..

    hi Greyhound
    what is wrong with that entry its a normal windows process
    HID stands for Human Interface Device like a usb keyboard or something there were rumours it was something else
    Read Here

    What Kodo means is see if you have been assigned a IP

    You can do this by opening a command prompt and typing IPCONFIG you may get a message from your firewall but its ok to allow access
    You should then see your connection if present and a IP number if you are getting one

    @Kodo & General_Lee_Stoned

    Here is the result of typing in IPCONFIG. The only difference in this one and my other computer is the las numbers 94 verses 27.

    That is for the filter that my ISP uses, and it is on my other computer too. Also that filter is not allowing me to go cexx.org, I think it sees that as a porn site because of the cexx. I don't know.GLS check PM

    I want to thank you guys again. I didn't use the file but got it fixed without it. The trouble was the filter, I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it and now it be okay..... :) :rolleyes: Should have tried that before. I think I am going to get a new ISP as I have been having problems with excepting email with this one for quite some time now. And like I said earlier that it wouldn't let me on that site because of the hint that it might be a bad site, even kept me off of FYI.com. Any way, thanks again. :) :) :)
