    Hi Guys

I am having a complete mare with this system! I had to fdisk and reinstall for various reasons (not large enough C:\partition for instance)!

I now get the above message on start up.

I have run through all the routines on Read & Run me first, but I still have a problem. Panda Active Scan seems to knock out the internet connection so when I click see report, it asks me to connect to the internet, as I have broadband....? Consequently no log there, but it detected 3 spyware and 1 hacking tool and potential unwanted tool. - I can see the problem there, don't know exactly what it found!.

I have included 3 of the scans and the next post will include the hijack this if you want it.

YOu have not renamed HijackThis as request in the read and run me. This is actually very iomportant as many of the latest malware infections hide themselves when they see HJT is running.

Please rename HJT to analyse.exe and repost the log.

Ahh I see your problem now. The error you are getting is because windows is trying to start a program that doesn't exist when it boots up.

NLC.exe is Windows Network Latency Controller. There doesn't seem to be a massive amount of information on the internet about this but as windows cannot find the file it has abviously been removed but the link to start it is still there.

    To remove the link:

Run HijackThis. Click the 'Do a system scan only' button.

Place a checkmark in the box next to the following lines:

Click on the 'Fix checked' button. Wait for HijackThis to finish; close HijackThis.

You have limewire set to start on boot. This means that when windows starts you are loading an application that connects to the internet and also potentially allow hundreds of people to connect to your computer to download file parts. I reccomend you stop allowing it to do this.

I can see no evidence of any malware in your logs. Have you tried running the panda active scan from safe mode?

    Oh you guys are great!!!!

deleting the lines in the registry worked.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help.

I did try to run Panda active scan in safe mode, but for reasons I can't fathom, despite clicking network support on the 'boot.ini' tab I can't connect to the internet. (me being dense I expect)! I will have another go.

I have also done as recommended and stopped linewire connecting on system startup.

    Again forever grateful. :D

When you goto boot to safe mode by pressing F8 when booting you get a text menu. WHat are you choosing from there?

Choose Safe Mode With Networking instead of Safe mode

If you still can't get it going just try one more time from normal mode to be sure and if its still not working try running this one instead.

Click on the link below and run the online scan...

    Kaspersky Anti-Virus Online Scan

    • Click on "Kaspersky Online Scanner"
    • Click Accept to procede...
    • If you get a popup askiing if you want to Install Kaspersky's ActiveX Control, click Yes to install it.
    • If you get a Security Warning popup asking if you want to install and run kavwebscan_unicode.cab, click Yes to install it.
    • After all updates are downloaded, click NEXT to continue...( Note it will take awhile to download these updates based on your connection speed).
    • Click Scan Settings and select extended and make sure both boxes are checked at the bottom, Click OK to continue.
    • Now click on My Computer and let it run!
    • This scan may take a while but it is very thorough. After the scan is complete save the log as a txt file and attach it to your next post.
I don't actually expect it to find muchm its just for your peace of mind ;)
