csrss.exe slowdown

I recently added accounts to my windows XP Pro computer. Now, there is a problem. The original account that used to automatically log in, works perfectly fine. However, the other accounts run really slowly. By checking the tast manager, is says that csrss.exe is taking up almost 100 % of CPU usuage (usually about 92%), while the load on the CPU remains pegged at 100%. This happens for all the other accounts, even the guest account. csrss runs in the original account aswell, but it takes up 0% of CPU usage.

Does anyone know why csrss is suddenly taking up so much power in the new accounts? and of course, how to fix it.
Oh, and it seems the csrss is a windows function, as I cannot stop it, because task manager just denies me from doing so :-S

 

You have XP SP1 installed yes?

what other processes are running when you load those accounts. csrss is the win32 subsystem that handles API calles. It could be a rogue application running whacko on you.

 

Is it a service running at startup? I don't own XP, but with 2000 you need to go to the services control panel, or find it in administrative tools. Hopes that helps some.

 

Well, I just finished a virus check with NAV, fully updated (2.25 million files on my comp :-O)
I will try taking some programs off the startup from msconfig, to see if that is the problem.
I have heard of a similiar problem while browsing the web, but no one had a solution

Oh, i do have SP1, with all the latest updates on top of that.
