Prey - free open source anti-theft solution

I had initially heard of Prey a few months ago but I kind of forgot about it until a day or two ago.... I've read just about everything at their web site, so I guess I'm looking for comments from people with first-hand experience with Prey. If you've actually had a PC (or SmartPhone) stolen and Prey helped get it back, your input will be especially valuable....

I'm thinking about it, but the last free 'tracking' program I knew of went belly up. I'd hate to solely rely on a product that may not be around in a few months (happens with open source and free stuff) They have a paid version, so I guess they are hanging there hat on that income to afford 'freeloaders' like us.
