    Hey there,

I have a wireless router which i have 2 computer hooked up too. 1 wireless and the other using a regular cat5. My internet goes down every few minutes for a couple of seconds. Once in a while it will go down longer. I am unable to download large files because of this and it is a nuisence in many other ways. When i am using more internet applications it tends to go down more often. I have one of my computers DMZed but it doesnt seem to be the problem... Any suggestions?

    Thanks

What security scheme are you using, WEP or WPA?

Do both machines exhibit the behavior?

Well the first question is : What is your router broadcasting at? If it is a Wireless G- it broadcasts @ 2.5 GHz. Also see if your computer is near a telephone, or a microqave. Your phone is probably broadcasting at 2.4GHZ as well- which would cause some connection problems. Just troubleshoot it.

Ok, I am running XP Pro on my wireless machine and running XP Home on my wired machine. Im using a Linksys wireless router(802.11B). My wireless adapter is linksys and my wired card is nothing special. Both computers are having basicly the same problem.

When it goes out for a long period of time reseting the router usually fixes the problem... Any other info needed?

    Thanks

Have you tried a router firmware update?

Sounds like your router is going bad.

I would get a new one myself. Did you buy it recently enough to exchange it?

Try updating the firmware. I've seen that fix my friends dead router (He had to use tftp to flash it though).
