AdAware 2007 and AdAware 2008 Beta

I'm a real idiot when it comes to computers. But I am willing and learning. In fact I just enrolled in college (at age 56) to start learning about computers. Until then, I have a problem. I have tried many, many times to load AdAware 2007 and 2008 Beta. I used to have AdAware SE. Can't find it. But anyhow, for some reason, it's not happening. Just won't let me download either one. After about two hours it pops up a message saying that it can't be done. I believe that I have received Adware and it is causing problems with my system. I've run Spybot several times and it never reveals anything in my system. Windows Defender comes up empty handed. Advanced Spyware Remover is no help and PC Tools Anti-Virus is at a loss also. Let me say just one more thing...HEEELLLLLLPPPPPP ! ! !
