REALLY bad IE pop ups and trojans

    Hey

I browse with Firefox, but lately I've been getting a ridiculous amount of IE pop ups. They're sort of sporadic and seem to come in waves. Sometimes I'll open up Firefox and get 2 or 3, close them and have more come up, and sometimes I'll go an hour or two without getting any.

Also, I have AVG 7.5 and I've gotten a couple notifications lately that I have a trojan. I always click "heal" and it says that the infection has been healed, but I'm not convinced, because I'm getting those notifications more frequently and my IE pop ups have just gotten worse.

I have Ad-aware and I've run that, but it hasn't seemed to have done anything. My computer has slown down considerably, too, even though I haven't added anything to it.

Can someone please help me-- this is getting really annoying!

    Thanks

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

This only cost you further delay. You need to read the stickies. Like this one: Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!!

And also the READ & RUN ME sticky which is in the fourm to help you get started fixing your malware problems. This sticky is referenced again below. All you have to do is read and follow the instructions already given in the forum stickies.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
