Can you recommend any free downloadable software which can convert Flash Videos to video files supported by Windows Movie maker? (Video files: .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

Or you can use a lil known way to convert vids, with software you already have.
I just got this shown to me today, by my nephew who is 14 :( (im more than double his age)

VLC media player will convert any file it can play, to pretty much any file-type you want!

Open VLC and go to >> media >> convert/save >> add

Then find the file you want to use

Then select the output file type and bit rate desired etc.

It will output a file with an odd extension like .ps or similar, just rename it to .avi or .wmv, or what ever you chose, once it is finished.

When converted to Windows Movie maker file type .wmv will the .mp4 (MPEG-4) files produce a better quality .wmv file than .flv (Flash Video) files?

What I meant was, if a Flash video and an MPEG-4 Video are both converted to .wmv files, which one will have the better quality?:confused

For instance, when viewing video files from Internet, the Dailymotion videos offers the option of high quality video (MPEG-4 Video) or the standard definition video (Flash Video).

To answer your original question, here is what I use:

Once the plugin is installed, follow these instructions to download and install FFmpeg/ConvertHelper.

If you are using Firefox, I suggest you give it a try, as well.

ETA: Works in Windows, Linux, and Mac environments. :)

Converting Flash Video files to Video Files supported by Windows Movie Maker

    Dear collinsl, Major Geek

    Thank you for your help.

    Dear thesmokingun, Major Geek

Thanks for your help. Since this was an Internet based programme, I did not use it.

    Dear Sergeant Major,

When converted by VLC, for the initial part of the DVD file, the picture loses its contrast for a few seconds.

DVD flick did the finishing touches to convert Windows Movie Maker Files to DVD File Format. This was very helpful. Thank You.

    Dear Caliban, Specialist,
I abandoned converting MPEG-4 files to Windows Movie Maker Files. Thanks for the information anyway.

    Thanking You.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Manilka.

Wish you a Bug free Christmas!
