Is master/slave jumpers necessary on SATA hard drives?

    Hi,i want to add a second SATA hard drive to my pc.Are master/slave jumpers needed on sata hard drives?
    Thanks for any info.

    nope SATA HDDs do not have jumpers....

    The only jumpers that exist (to my knowledge) on SATA drives are only on newer SATA300 (SATA2) drives, and the jumper limits the drive to SATA150 (SATA).

    As far as master and slave, since you only have 1 device per SATA channel, it is not necessary.
