hey had this problem for a bit now, the shutdowns are spread quite far apart however i had two in quick succession today. I dont think it is software related whcih is why i am posting here.

I have a HP Notebook PC, HP Pavilion dv9000 series, 1.8ghz AMD Turion X2, Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 256mb running WinXp SP2 with AVG free edition 7.5 and comodo as anti virus and firewall respectivly.

Okae, as you might of gathered i have been having random shutdowns. This might be coinsidence as i plasy alot of PC games but the shutdowns always occur when playing a game, apart from a few.

The battery power upon restart is always full 100%. I orginally thought that it would be caused by that, changed sockets for charging still random shutdowns. All wires seem in good condition so i ruled that out.

For the two shutdowns today i had 15 viruses/trojans in my AVG virus vault and have just emptyed it now.

Any ideas on this or questions appreciated ty.

Does your laptop seems unusually hot?
Often shut downs are an indication of overheating.
Laptops (due to their inclosed nature) are particularly prone to overheating.
Make certain that any air vents are clear of dust.
