    Greetings

I have a problem with my desktop connecting to the internet. I thought it was a hardware problem & since I had a warranty I called to get it serviced, but was warned by them if it is a software issue I would be charged a service call. I know everyone here is instructed in instances like this to run through "READ & RUN ME FIRST" series so I have done so & by the looks of it there may be some issues with some of my drivers. I tried to be careful (not intending to waste anybody's time) and save all the requested logs, but noticed today when I was gathering them all together I must have missed saving the Hitman Pro log so I ran it again after I had completed the process (hope that did not mess anything up). Thank you in advance for your time.

I doubt this is a malware issue, but do rerun MBAM and have it fix what it found.

Are you trying to connect wirelessly or wired?

Thanks for the reply, I am trying to connect both wired & wireless. Re-running Malwarebytes now

As I said, I doubt this is a malware issue, but do let me know how you get on.

Thanks for asking again. I took my PC to a Staples store & without a lot of details the tech seemed to think it was software issue since he was able to plug a dongle in he back & access the internet. The question still remains how did this happen, the Staples clerk suspects virus, but obviously he does not have the info you had from the reports. The bigger issue for me is how to get the wireless back up & running (btw I was able to get the Ethernet connection working) since wireless does not show up as one of the connections available in the blue sidebar that shows the connections - I will plan to post a forum question on the HP site. Temporarily I am using a dongle I snatched from my TV computer. I did as you suggested & ran the MBAM & quarantined all found issues. Unless you have other suggestions I would consider your help superbly finished. Many thanks!!

    Glad to hear it. :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
