Default RealTek 97 not working

Hey all.

I recently had to reformat my computer to get it to recognize the PCI slot so i could install a new graphics card. Got the card and everything else to work but my sounds.

Now i have reformatted this computer a bunch of times already, normally i just go online, find the drivers i need and install them. But for some reason its not working now, at all.

I have no clue as what to do, which is why i came here to ask this lovely community.

I have installed, uninstalled, installed like 10 times now and still nothing.

My computer is a Emachines T3418, and the Graphics card is a GeForce GT240. Its also Windows XP service pack 2.

Any help would be great, i cant really enjoy my graphics card if i have no sounds to go with it.

Any, and ALL comments ARE appreciated. Thank you.

Hi

Likely you need to install your Chipset driver HERE first and reboot and so reboot as its needed then install the Audio driver HERE

Other drivers for your model E-Machines are HERE

Are you installing the chipset driver, first?
Then the audio, then video, then the rest?
And the settings to add a video card are in your BIOS.
There is a setting to use onboard or PCI video, in there.
Have you set that right?

Looks like Dave beat me.

Hey guys thanks for the replies.

Everything shows like its working but the sound just doesn't play. No yellow mark, no red circle with a line through it either. Luckily my younger brother had the same model and kindly gave me his when i gave him a call this morning since he had bought a new gaming laptop a couple months ago. Went over to his house and picked it up, I installed my graphics card in his and it works perfectly. It even has windows 7 so all this trouble i have been going through for the past 48 hours was worth it.

Though i still want to try and fix my original one, i will try those steps in that order and see if anything happens and i'll report back. Its just really weird cause it was working perfectly when when i tried to install the card everything just went down hill for some reason.

Thanks again Falcon, Dave & Gloo! *salutes*
