I Can't Boot In Safe Mode.

I'm having trouble booting my computer in safe mode. I've tried using F8 as well as using System Utility Configuration. Neither option works. When I do boot in safe mode, I get a black screen with "Safe Mode" in all four corners. I can bring up the task manager by hitting "ctr-alt-delete" and if I wait a while I get a screen saver, but other than that- nothing. I've followed the steps for spyware removal in normal mode and then tried rebooting in safe mode but still no luck. Also, I've noticed that while scanning with Ad-Aware SE, it freezes up every time. I've tried downloading again and reinstalling but still get same problem. And it also freezes up while scanning a different file every time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Continue with what you can in Normal Mode and post your logs when finished.

Sorry for being so ignorant, but exactly what logs do you want me to post. I've never posted a log of any kind and just want to make sure I get it right. I've never had this much trouble removing spyware/viruses before.

Just got done running Spybot and noticed something new. I keep getting some type of error message while it's scanning. They are a red triangle with an exclamation point inside with messages like "User Abort- Scan Was not completed successfully", "Error During Check- Surf Sidekick" (There are numereous entries of that one), "Error During Check- Smitfraud- C" (Again, numerous entries), "Error During Check- CoolWWWSearch" (Numerous Entries). After the scan I'm only able to check one item (CoolWWWSearhc.IE Links) and delete it, but it comes up again on the next search. Don't know if this helps, just thought I'd add it.

Please follow forum guidelines and perform cleaning steps in the sticky thread.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:

OK, I've followed the steps in the Read Me and Run Me thread with the exception of Ad Aware as it is still freezing up. I had the same occurances when I ran Spybot as I mentioned in my previous post. MS Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool didn't remove anything. Microsoft AntiSpyware didn't remove anything. Both CWShredder and Kill2Me didn't do anything. I didn't do any of the special removal procedures since everything needs to be done in safe mode and didn't know if any of them would work in normal mode? And I still can't boot in safe mode. Here is my Hijack This log and both of my online virus scan logs. If any more information is needed, just let me know.
