Was prompted to download a registry scanner/cleaner called ErrorEND, http://errorend.com/, but couldnt find anything on the MajorGeeks forums about it.
Having a problem running Mats_Run.winfilefolder.exe and the suggestion was to use ErrorEND.
Have been using CCleaner for registry scanner/cleaner.
Thoughts on any of the above ?

Don't touch errorend, the site name was only registered in December of 2010, it's probably another front for scamware software promoted by forum spammers.

What's the history behind needing to run Mats_Run.winfilefolder.exe?

I personally will not use any Registry Cleaner other than CCleaners.
Bad things happen with lots of them, especially if you aren't paying attention to what is being changed, IF it even gives you an option. Some don't.
    Don't like several hundred $$$ doorstops.:-D:-D;)

    Appreciate the advice.

Have been using CCleaner for a couple years, after getting good reviews on majorgeeks.com, but received some comments (not from MG folks) lately that it was starting to take out some files a bit indiscriminately.
Where is there a good place, for an intermediate type pc user, to get good information on best way to use CCleaner ?

Also will be searching for an MG post that may offer suggestions for a good way to clean up an XP laptop after installing SP-3, without re-formatting the HD.

For some reason we decided to install IE8, but in order to do that needed to install SP-3.
Got SP-3 installed, but couldnt get IE8 installed.
All this was while on the phone with a Dell support tech who finally said it would be best to reinstall XP, ie wipe out all data on the HD.
Been there, done that, and not going to do it again any time soon.
Finally, after off the phone, got IE7 back, and after running sfc, chkdsk, CCleaner, etc, things are somewhat back in order... although things seem to be going a bit slow.
So, have been searching a bit in hopes of finding some good way/s to 'tune-up' the 4yr old Dell D830 laptop.

    Thoughts ?
