Just a snippet from a reviewer who used Vista longer than 10 minutes ( Halo being sarky ) or at all to form an opinion.

Months go, I reviewed Windows Vista, and concluded: "All in all, I am impressed by Windows Vista [...]. Windows Vista is better than XP, and definitely more than just an improved look as many say." After 5 months of usage, it is time to put that statement into perspective.

Personal note... I agree with him in many of his statments on Vista, I have had his "Windows has blocked startup programs" problem, but traced mine to a non compatible security application that I tried and its service starting.

But MS have a KB on this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930367

His opinion and thoughts on give it a fair go if you decided to go Vista is a fair one, his UAC comments are spot on.

The other OSes mentioned I have used not so much or at all, so users of them discuss those issues, guess that means you Adryn!

Spotlight feels a lot faster than Vista's instant search, even when comparing my aging Cube to that much faster laptop!

I don't know how much faster he wants it, basically instantaneous as one types. Maybe he hasn't got everything indexed yet.
